When the local Chamber of Commerce asked us to create design materials for Taste of Lakewood, we wanted to make sure that the concept would reflect the city's diversity of delicious comfort food. Cozy eateries with full bars are common, and making sure that relaxed feeling carried over at the festival was important. In addition, we knew from the beginning of the project that the budget was tight. There were no existing photographic assets, and any design solution we had needed to be economical to implement.
The central theme of the festival was "GOOD FOOD," displayed like a stamp of approval with a series of engaging and lighthearted phrases. Participating restaurants received packets of postcards, posters, and coasters. In addition, they each received rubber stamps with the event logo and were encouraged to use them on receipts, placemats, carry-out bags or however they wanted.
The Taste of Lakewood is an outdoor day-long food & music festival that celebrates what Lakewood is known for: tremendously Good Food. The event features Lakewood’s eclectic mix of regionally known restaurants and food purveyors along with live music onstage, a beer & wine garden, dining tents, a VIP Experience, and more. In 2014, the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce had a goal of 5,000 visitors, but the final numbers were twice that. In 2015 attendance climbed to over 13,000.
