The Taste of Lakewood supports local students

The Lakewood Chamber of Commerce scholarship program, funded in part with event sponsorship dollars and proceeds from The Taste of Lakewood, awards scholarships each year to four high school seniors from either Lakewood High School or St. Edward High School. Recipients are recognized on stage during the event.

Awards are given to those who best demonstrate exceptional dedication to their studies, extra-curricular activities, and, just as importantly, a commitment to working at a part-time or full-time job during their high school years.

Sixty college bounds seniors have received over $175,000 in Lakewood Chamber of Commerce scholarships over the past 15 years. The past two years, the Taste of Lakewood has been a finalist for Best Charitable Event in Cleveland Magazine’s Best of the West competition.

2018 Scholarship Recipients

Brian Donahoe

I can’t wait to attend the University of Notre Dame this fall! I will be studying in the College of Engineering but I have not yet picked a specific engineering field. I want to make the world a better place with my knowledge and skills through building toward a better, more advanced future.

Matthew Elaban

I plan to attend the University of Cincinnati in the fall to study electrical engineering. When I’m not in school I work at Voodoo Tuna in Lakewood as a sushi chef. Someday I would like to work with a company like First Energy, and would also like to work in disaster relief at some point in my life.

Maya Costanzo

I will be studying health sciences at the University of Cincinnati and I hope to become either a physical therapist or an athletic trainer. Thank you for awarding me this scholarship and I hope to see you at the Taste of Lakewood!

Noah Militello

I would like to start off this email by thanking you for selecting me for this scholarship. I will be attending The Ohio State University this fall in the honors college. I am leaning towards majoring in environmental engineering and would like to focus my career on sustainability.

Invest in Lakewood’s future

Cast your vote

Decide who the BEST restaurant is at the 2018 Taste of Lakewood and then vote with one dollar. All proceeds from the event’s Dollars for Scholars activity (sponsored by Dollar Bank) will help fund the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce Scholarship program.

The Lakewood Chamber of Commerce’s goal is to invest in Lakewood’s future through supporting our working youth. We realize that a student’s work ethic and the unique experiences that come from employment, are important indicators of their future success.

Patty Ryan

President & CEO, Lakewood Chamber of Commerce

A portion of the event’s proceeds benefit the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund which rewards and assists college-bound high school seniors from St. Edward and Lakewood High Schools. The past two years, the Taste of Lakewood has been a finalist for “Best Charitable Event” in Cleveland Magazine’s Best of the West competition.
